Olimpionico Hotel

Opened on 8 December 1984, it was extensively renovated in 2007 and then again in 2014 when, 30 years later, it became the first 4-star hotel in Castello di Fiemme. Today it is managed by his daughter Ingrid, who, together with her staff, takes care of every detail.

Olympic champions

Franco Nones

Franco Nones was the first Italian to break through the wall of invincibility of the Viking giants.
February 7, 1968 marked a turning point in the world of cross-country skiing, which until then had been the undisputed domain of Swedish, Norwegian, Finnish, and Russian athletes.
The “little blue guy,” as he was affectionately called by the press at the time, won Olympic gold in the 30 km classical technique cross-country race in Grenoble with iron determination, shaking up the entire skiing world.

His Olympic victory was just the cherry on top of a career filled with success.
Little known to the Italian public, who were more interested in other sports, Nones was closely watched by the Scandinavians, especially in 1967, the pre-Olympic year when he never placed lower than fourth in the rankings.

Raised in a mountain village, the third of eight children, he was used to the hard work of farming and manual labor, common among the people of Fiemme at the time.
He became passionate about energy-demanding sports like cycling. Sport was always a part of Franco’s life, and he seized every opportunity to test himself and his limits. One example was his time working in a factory 15 km from home: Franco would ride his bike to work, and on the uphill return journey, he would race the local train, winning 9 times out of 10.

During his years of training and competition in Scandinavia, he met Inger, a Swedish woman.
The spark between them was immediate, and after a few years they got married and settled in Castello di Fiemme, Franco’s hometown.

The 2026 Olympic and Paralympic Games

Italy has won!
On Monday, June 24th, it was officially announced that the 2026 Winter Olympics will be held in Italy. Three regions will be involved in hosting the Games: Lombardia, Veneto, and Trentino-Alto Adige.
The dream begins again… Great champions and great victories!
How could we not remember the legendary Franco Nones, who left an indelible mark on the history of cross-country skiing by winning gold in the 30 km race at the Grenoble Olympics in 1968.
A true Trentino native, passionate about all sports, with a strong and determined spirit, he constantly challenged himself and his limits, achieving the results we all know. Thanks to his many victories, Nones helped spread cross-country skiing throughout Italy and especially in Val di Fiemme.

It will be with great emotion and pride that Franco Nones, the sportsman, relives the Olympic experience in his homeland, the Val di Fiemme (Trentino). ”
